Procedure
A complimentary consultation with one of our experienced Cosmetic Nurses is required before undergoing any Cosmetic Aesthetic treatment. At the consultation, patients will discuss their medical history, areas of concern, and their anticipated outcomes of a lip enhancement. This will determine the best course of treatment in terms of products used, the techniques required, and the number of sessions needed to achieve safe and optimal results.
The lips are cleansed, and a topical numbing cream is applied for up to 15 minutes to minimise any discomfort. Once the lips are numbed the lips are cleansed again. Small amounts of Cosmetic Aesthetic product are injected beneath the skin’s surface of the lips at regular intervals to ensure an even distribution of the product throughout the lips. The technique used to inject the product will depend on what areas of the patient’s lips they would like to enhance and improve.
Once completed, the lips will be cleaned, and ice may be applied to reduce any expected swelling. There is minimal downtime required, and you will be able to revert to normal activities afterwards.

Preparation & Aftercare
Due to how vascular the lips are, swelling is to be expected for the first 24-48 hours. Some bruising and swelling will persist for up to 2 weeks, and your lips may appear much larger than expected initially. However, this is a common side effect, and applying ice regularly to the lips will help reduce swelling and bruising. If you experience any discomfort, over the counter pain medication can help.
Preparation

- Avoid alcohol and painkillers such as Ibuprofen before treatment as they tend to thin the blood and can make you prone to bruising
- If you are prone to cold sores to the lips (HSV-1 herpes simplex virus) we recommend taking an anti-viral before and after treatment to significantly reduce the chance of developing a cold sore infection following your treatment.
Aftercare
If you experience any serious bruising or discomfort outside of the lip area, this is a rare reaction and will require immediate consultation with your cosmetic injector.
- Apply ASAP Hydrating Lip balm + SPF15 to soothe and moisturise the lips
- Avoid alcohol and painkillers such as Ibuprofen after treatment as they tend to thin the blood and can make you prone to bruising
- Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated to help with your healing process
- Small bumps and lumps can be present after treatment which is a common side effect of lip injections as the filler disperses throughout your lip tissue. If lumps or bumps persist after 4 weeks, you may need to contact our clinic.

- Avoid exercise and strenuous activity, saunas, steam rooms, or hot spas for 24 -48 hours

Can I get Lip Shape & Define treatments if I am under 18?
We do not treat anyone under the age of 18 for Cosmetic Aesthetic treatments.
What is a “Lip Flip”?
A lip flip lifts the top lip bwith a few units of Cosmetic Aestheic product into the muscle around your mouth to pop your lip a little, showing a little more of the wet part of your lip.
This treatment last approximately 6-8 weeks with a subtle change to the lip, it can be added to any anti-wrinkle procedure.
Can I get ½ ml of Lip Shape & Define treatment?
You can, however this will be charged at the cost of 1ml, as the product's comes in 1ml syringes and for safety reasons, any remaining product must be discarded.
Can I eat and drink after Lip Shape & Define treatments?
Yes, you can eat and drink after Lip Shape & Define treatments. For the first 24 hours you will want to avoid eating foods that require lots of chewing until the product settles.
Can I haveLip Shape & Define treatments if I am pregnant?
No. We do not treat clients who are pregnant as a precaution due to the lack of information available on cosmetic injectable treatment effects on the foetus. Your safety is our number one priority.
Can I have Lip Shape & Define treatments dissolved at your clinic?
We do not dissolve Cosmetic Aestheics if you were treated outside of our clinic. We can dissolve Cosmetic Aesthetics if you received them at Aesthetic Laser and Skin Clinic; however, you must book a review with your cosmetic injector.
Does Lip Shape & Define treatments hurt?
There may be mild discomfort, but the treatment will be much more comfortable if patients opt for a numbing topical cream, which is applied 15 minutes prior to treatment.
How Long do Lip Shape & Define treatments last?
Results of Lip Shape & Define treatments can be seen 4 weeks after treatment once the product in the lips has fully settled and swelling has completely resided.
Results can last anywhere between 3-12 months. This will vary depending on how fast your body metabolises the hyaluronic acid lip injections and lifestyle choices.
